The Orthodontist

Dr. med. dent. Eleftherios Kondylis DDS, Dipl Orth/ MSc Orth, PhD

The doctor was born in Athens and grew up on the island of Kos.

In 2002 he entered the Dental University of Athens after taking the panhellenic national exams and he graduated with honors in 2008.

The next year, he served his country as military dentist in 401 General Military hospital in Athens and at the military medical camp of Kos. He was in charge of the dental clinic of the camp and responsible for hundreds of patients.

In 2010 he began his training as an orthodontist specialist, which was completed in 2015 and he earned the specialization in the university dental clinic Carl Gustav Carus in Dresden Germany.

In 2016 he completed his PhD with honors “cum laude“, by defending his PhD thesis infront of a committee. The PhD Dissertation Thesis “Influence of the programming with Prometheus -“Sophisticated Wire Programmer” on the elastic and mechanical properties of NiTi archwires and the development of a new NiTi loop for orthodontic space closure” was successfully defended and he earned the title Doctor medicinae dentariae.

At the same time he contributed in the development of orthodontics with many worldwide innovations and patents. Some of them are the following:

  • In 2013 he held a lecture in Heidelberg, during the annual conference of the german society for lingual orthodontics and he presented his VTE technique (Vorschau des therapeutischen Ergebnisses – Visualisation of the therapeutic result), a technique used for aligning the teeth with lingual braces (invisible braces). Parts of his technique are being used by the best systems in the world.
  • Development of the robotic system “Prometheas – Sophisticated Wire Programmer”, a deviced used for changing the shape of the orthodontic NiTi archwires. (Open Source Project)
  • Development of the Diamond-Loop, an orthodontic loop used for space closure [German Patent Nr. 10 2015 101 689.3].
  • Development of a device, which eliminated completely the elastic properties of the NiTi wires without destroying/burning the wire [German Patent Nr. 10 2015 113 612.0].
  • Development of an instrument for dental purposes and specifically for the positioning of the brackets on the teeth [German Patent Nr. 10 2016 107 562.0].

He worked as orthodontist specialist in two major orthodontic clinics, with multiple orthodontic practices in NRW Germany.

He is the father of two, Marilia and Mattheos.
